With sports betting and online gaming in the process of being regulated and the legalisation of casinos in Brazil set to be voted on by the Senate Plenary, Editora Globo will be discussing the challenges for the country in the face of this new economic moment.

Panel 1, entitled ‘The challenges of regulating betting and casinos and their impact on the states’, will bring together the Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino; the rapporteur of Bill 2234/22 in the Senate, Senator Irajá (PSD-TO); the president of the Rio de Janeiro State Lottery - LOTERJ, Hazenclever Lopes Cançado and the president of the Brazilian Legal Gambling Institute - IJL and editor of BNLData, Magnho José.

Panel 2, on the theme of ‘Responsible gambling: taking care of gamblers’ mental and financial health', will bring together psychologist and doctor of mental health and founder of the Delete Institute - Conscious Use of Technologies, Anna Lucia Spear King, and the president of RioSolidário, Paola Figueiredo. The panel discussions will be moderated by journalist Ascânio Seleme.

‘Law 14.790/23 establishes a new regulatory framework for sports betting and online casinos in the country. Enacted in December 2023, the regulation aims to organise the market, guarantee consumer protection and increase tax collection, whose resources will be allocated to areas such as sports, education and public safety. The seminar will bring together authorities and experts to debate the challenges of this new legislation. Among the states of the Federation, Rio de Janeiro stands out.
