Michigan: iGaming, sports betting operators report $214.1M in June revenue

Monthly Gross Receipts
June iGaming gross receipts totaled $183.2 million and gross sports betting receipts totaled $30.9 million. In May, gross sports betting receipts were $198.6 million and gross sports betting receipts were $40.9 million.

Monthly Adjusted Gross Receipts
Combined total iGaming and internet sports betting adjusted gross receipts (AGR) for June were $136.35 million, including $164.56 million from iGaming and negative ($28.21 million) from internet sports betting — representing an iGaming decrease of 7.9% and a sports betting decrease of $56.32 million when compared to last month. This $56.32 million decrease was due in part to a $48.2 million free play deduction taken by one of the operators, MGM Grand Detroit / BetMGM, which had not previously been taken.

Compared to a year ago, in June 2023, iGaming AGR was up by 20.2% and sports betting was down by $37.4 million.

Monthly Handle
Total June internet sports betting handle at $276.8 million was down by 19.5% from the $343.7 million handle recorded in May 2024.

Monthly State Taxes/Payments
The operators reported submitting $35.5 million in taxes and payments to the State of Michigan during June, of which:

  • iGaming taxes and fees = $34.4 million
  • Internet sports betting taxes and fees = $1.1 million

Monthly City of Detroit Taxes/Payments
The three Detroit casinos reported paying the City of Detroit $8.79 million in wagering taxes and municipal services fees during June, of which:

  • iGaming taxes and fees = $8.4 million
  • Internet sports betting taxes and fees = $391,960

Monthly Tribal Operators’ Payments
Tribal operators reported making $4.3 million in payments to governing bodies in June.

Additional Information
An online gaming and sports betting revenue distribution table is available on the agency’s website.

As of June 2024, a total of 15 commercial and tribal operators have been authorized to launch iGaming and/or internet sports betting. Currently, 12 commercial and tribal operators offer internet sports betting, and 15 operators offer iGaming. Details for each operator’s internet gaming and internet sports betting results are available on the MGCB website.
