Coljuegos strikes a hard blow against illegal betting in Bogota

(Bogota).- As part of the frontal fight against illegality, during an inter-institutional operation led by Coljuegos, 89 items were seized that were used to place illegal bets in the Capital District.
According to the president of Coljuegos, Marco Emilio Hincapié, during the operation Five (5) establishments dedicated to illegal betting were raided, located in the Santa Fe neighborhood, a martyrs town, in the city of Bogotá, elements by which
stopped receiving around $26,000 million pesos for exploitation rights, during its operation in the last 5 years, collection that should have been allocated to the sector health in Colombia.

During the operation carried out on January 24, 2024, 89 elements to place bets online, 1 electronic slot machine, 29
computers, 31 televisions, 28 CPUs, and other elements such as ticket printers and VDR memories, all these elements are valued at close to $500 million pesos.
Additionally, 4 people were placed at the disposal of a control judge guarantee; Among the four mentioned, one of them is a repeat offender of the behavior.
“We make an important call to natural and legal persons who currently operate without the proper authorization of Coljuegos, so that they approach the Entity and request the respective permits to formalize this economic activity, it is a call to legality," The president of Coljuegos reiterated.
Those who operate without the authorization of Coljuegos incur the crimes of illicit exercise of monopolistic activities for profit, a crime that affects the economic and social order, which is connected with illicit enrichment, conspiracy to commit a crime and others, such as is stipulated in the Penal Code. These crimes carry penalties that are close to 300 SMLMV for each establishment, 5 years of inability to operate games of luck and chance, and 6 to 8 years in prison.
