Hotel occupancy rises to 43% in October in Macau

(Macau).- The occupancy rate of local hotels has reached 42.8 per cent in October, a considerable rise from the 16.4 per cent rate reported in the month prior, data published by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO).

Visitor arrivals have continued to rise in the city, with 582,000 visitor arrivals reported in October, a 29.6 per cent jump from the previous month.

Average room rates also reported a bump of 30 per cent between September and October, reaching some MOP1,039.

Hotel occupancy rates for 5-star hotels went up from 12.6 per cent in September to 40 per cent in October, with average room rates reaching MOP1,291, while 4-star hotels saw their occupancy rate and room rised to 45 per cent and MOP331.

Meanwhile, 3-star hotels had the highest occupancy rate in October, at 51 per cent, with average room rates reaching MOP786.
