(London).- The former DCMS gambling policy leader will oversee policy, research, statistics, and National Lottery regulation as the Commission advances its regulatory strategy.
Senior Appointment Strengthens Leadership
The Gambling Commission has announced the appointment of Sarah Fox to its Executive Team on secondment from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
In her new role, Fox will lead the Commission's Policy, Research and Statistics, and National Lottery regulation functions. Her appointment follows recent leadership changes within the regulator, including the departure of Tim Miller.
Extensive Experience in Gambling Policy
Fox brings more than 23 years of experience in the UK Civil Service, having held operational, strategic, and policy positions across several government departments, including the Home Office, the Department of Health and Social Care, the Cabinet Office, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, and DCMS.
For the past four years, she has headed the Gambling and Lotteries team at DCMS, overseeing key initiatives such as the implementation of the UK's gambling white paper, the transition to the Fourth National Lottery Licence, and policy development for society lotteries and horse racing.
She also serves as DCMS's senior disability champion, supporting inclusion initiatives and promoting greater disability awareness across the department.
Supporting the Commission's Next Phase
Welcoming the appointment, Acting Chief Executive Sarah Gardner said Fox's expertise would play an important role in delivering the Commission's long-term strategy.
"I am delighted to welcome Sarah to the Commission.
"We are incredibly fortunate to have someone with Sarah's experience joining us. The Commission has an ambitious strategy so having someone who is already working across the gambling and lotteries sector will be invaluable.
"Sarah's role will be a vital one as we complete the final stages of the implementation of the white paper, assess the impacts of these changes, and continue to ensure the interests of National Lottery players are protected and that returns to Good Causes are maximised."
A New Challenge for Sarah Fox
Sarah Fox said she is looking forward to contributing directly to the Commission's mission after working closely with the regulator during her time at DCMS.
"Over the last four years I've seen first-hand the work of the Commission, and the expertise, talent and enthusiasm of its teams. So much has been achieved over a time that has been significant for the gambling sector and everyone with an interest in it.
"The opportunity to cross over to the Commission and help the team continue making gambling safer, fairer and crime free is one I am really excited to take."
