Maryland Sports Betting Revenue Surges to Over $1.6 Billion

(Maryland).- Sports betting—not traditional casinos—fueled the majority of Maryland's $1.6 billion in gambling tax revenue for FY 2025.
Sports Betting Now Driving State Funds
More than $1.6 b was sent to state programs in Maryland and services by the Maryland state’s gambling industry during the past fiscal year 2025, but the money flowing into state funds increasingly is being driven by sports betting mostly and not form casinos that have long dominated the market.
In fiscal 2026, which ended June 30, the Maryland Lottery and the state’s casinos, sportsbooks and fantasy sports operators contributed $1.637 billion, according to Maryland Lottery and Gaming which is $48 million more than 2025.
Sports Wagering has contributed $132.3 M to Maryland
Much of the increase was accounted for by sports wagering. The industry has contributed $132.3 million to Maryland's economy which is significantly up from $88.9 million in 2025. More than $99.7 m were allocated to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund (the fund supports public education) and $32.6 million went to the state’s General Fund.
