(Puerto Rico) .- The member casinos of the Puerto Rico Hotel and Tourism Association (PRHTA, in English) will begin to request from next August 30 the proof of vaccination against covid-19 to enter them, as Governor Pedro Pierluisi asked in his new executive order.

Casinos in Puerto Rico will request proof of vaccination from their clients

"Casinos are an essential part of tourist activity on the island, and as we established from the beginning, we want to guarantee our clients that we are a safe space and that it pursues the well-being of all," said this Friday in a statement the president of the Committee of Casinos of the PRHTA, Miguel Vega.

"This has been done since the beginning of the pandemic, being at the forefront of health measures and protocols to protect our employees and our customers," he added.

And given the possibility that a client has not been vaccinated or has the vaccination card with you, Vega recommended that all casinos in Puerto Rico request a proof of vaccination.

In this way, "it encourages more Puerto Ricans to get vaccinated and we have a destination with the highest possible vaccination percentage, while protecting our employees and clients."

The casinos that are part of the PRHTA are Casino Metro at the Sheraton Puerto Rico, Oasis Casino at the Embassy Suites San Juan, Stellaris Casino at the San Juan Marriott, and the Tropical Casinos at the Holiday Inn Mayagüez and Holiday Inn Ponce.

For his part, the president of the Board of Directors of the PRHTA, Joaquin Bolivar, stressed that it is very important to work collaboratively with the Government with this type of protocol, since as responsible citizens we want to be part of the solution to the situation of Covid- 19 ".

"With actions like the one announced today, we echo the Government and collaborate in the important exhortation that more people get vaccinated and thus achieve herd immunity, for the benefit of all Puerto Ricans," he concluded.
