(Mexico City).- The Ministry of the Interior, headed by Rosa Icela Rodríguez, rejected accusations of an alleged connection between the permits granted to Clie S.A. de C.V. and the recently suspended casinos, stating that these claims are false.

Mexico: Segob denies links between Clie permits and suspended casinos

Judicial mandate and permits to Clie

Segob explained that in 2024 the Metropolitan Regional Chamber of Administrative Justice ordered the issuance of 20 permits to Clie S.A. de C.V. Since that date, no establishment has operated under those permits.

Claims about business ties

According to reports, during the last year of Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s administration, permits to operate casinos were allegedly granted to business networks linked to the Bermúdez Requena family. However, the Ministry denied these claims and distanced itself from Centenario and Diamante Casino, suspended on April 14, 2026, which had been operating with permits assigned to Operadora de Coincidencias Numéricas S.A. de C.V. since 2017, when Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong was in charge of the Ministry.

Clarifications on other permits

Segob emphasized that the permits of the suspended casinos were managed by Comercializadora y Arrendadora de México S.A. de C.V., with no connection to Clie S.A. de C.V. It also recalled that the crowncitybets.mx website, suspended in 2025, operated under a permit granted in 2017 to Controladora de Inversiones y Promociones del Sureste S.A. de C.V.

Segob’s conclusion

Finally, the Ministry of the Interior confirmed that currently no casino is operating with the permits issued by judicial mandate to Clie S.A. de C.V., reiterating that the claims being circulated are unrelated.
