(Louisiana).- Peninsula Pacific Entertainment has failed in its attempts to relocate a casino license in Northwest Louisiana to the southeastern portion of the state with St. Tammany Parish voting against the proposal.
The casino project was kicked out by a 26-point margin, with 63 per cent of voters voting against it with participation in the vote high at over 30 per cent. The plans would have seen a large casino built near the lakefront in the city of Slidell.
The Louisiana Gaming Control Board (LGCB) had given its blessing for Peninsula Pacific Entertainment (P2E) to relocate its Diamond Jacks casino in Bossier City to Slidell as part of a $325m development including a casino, resort, and marina dubbed Camellia Bay.
Camellia Bay’s resort was planned for some 100 acres just off Interstate 10 at the Lakeshore Marina.
Peninsula Pacific Entertainment also owns Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City, del Lago Resort & Casino in New York and Colonial Downs Group owners of the Rosie’s Gaming Emporium brand. Earlier this year, the operator shut its DiamondJacks casino in Bossier City, claiming that the Shreveport area casino market was over supplied.
