(Brazil).- Aiming to achieve new sources of revenue from sponsorships, the sports betting market will be one of the main topics at Brasil Futebol Expo 2022, the largest football event in Latin America. BFExpo 22, organised by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), focuses on education, business, experiences and innovation, and is set to take place from September 4 to 8 in São Paulo.

Brasil Futebol Expo and SBC join forces to focus on the local sports betting market

The Brasil Sports Betting Summit, a congress organised by BFExpo in partnership with SBC, one of the largest global betting and gaming content producers, will have two days of conferences that will discuss the process of regulating the sports betting industry and the expansion of the market in Brazil, with the participation of local and international experts.

This topic is particularly relevant since 32 teams from the Campeonato Brasileiro currently have some kind of sponsorship from sports betting platforms. Out of the 20 teams that compete in Série A, 19 are sponsored by companies linked to sportsbooks. In Série B, 13 have commercial deals of this type in place.

Sports betting has been the subject of relevant debates due to the potential to generate income. Gambling has been legalised since 2018 through federal law 12,756, although regulation still needs to be approved and the deadline to do so expires in December 2022. By law, companies are authorised to operate in Brazil, but since it’s not a regulated activity, they are based abroad.

On September 6 at 9 am, the Brazil Sports Betting Summit will discuss precisely this topic. The panel “Sports Betting Regulation with a Focus on Latin America'' will feature the Deputy Undersecretary Alexandre Massa; Undersecretary for Special Affairs of the Secretariat for Economic Monitoring, Ministry of Economy Iuri Castro; Senior Executive Consultant of the Sports Betting Market and Member of the Executive Committee of the Global Lottery Monitoring System (GLMS) Ludovico Calvi; the journalist specialised in lotteries and betting, editor of BNLData and president of the Instituto Brasileiro Jogo Legal (IJL) Magnho Jose; and partners of the GBSA law firm Rafael Rodrigo Bruno and Carlos Goncalves Junior.

On September 7 at 9 am, the panel “Sports Betting Market in Brazil – Opportunities and Challenges for Football Clubs and Operators” will be led by Martin Lycka, Entain's Senior Vice President for Americas Regulatory Affairs and a member of the board of directors of the American Gaming Association (AGA); representatives from the operator EstrelaBet; the executive director of Palmeira’s women’s team Alberto Simão; the VP of Marketing of Santos Jorge Avancini; and the Commercial Director of Botafogo Rodrigo Ganem.

Rasmus Sojmark, CEO and Founder of SBC, said: “The sports betting market in Brazil is about to take a big step after many years of slow progress. SBC has been in Latin America for several years with its news site SBCNoticias.com and the SBC Summit Latinoamérica event that takes place in November, but the opening of the Brazilian market provides an even greater opportunity”.

“We join BFExpo to create the right environment for industry professionals to discover what the country expects of them,” he added.

Ludovico Calvi, who has over 30 years of experience in the market, explained: “We’ll discuss the entire betting life cycle, from its inception to the dynamics of a transparent operation and the strong commitment to integrity, responsible gaming and social responsibility. The goal is to provide the public with all the information and strategic contributions based on the best global practices to manage a newly established sports betting organisation.”

Rafael Bruno, GBSA partner, said: “It [represents] a moment to reflect on the Brazilian sports betting market. It’s necessary to find an efficient way to internalise this market in the national economic context.”

To participate in the courses, it’s necessary to register through the Brasil Futebol Expo website. The price of each course is 500 reals and it’s possible to pay in instalments by credit card. The promotional package with the two panels has a price of 800 reais.

BFEXPO 22

In its second edition, BFExpo will feature 200 speakers in 70 courses from the most diverse topics that involve football on and off the field. All the details from schedules and attendees can be found on the Brasil Futebol Expo’s Instagram account (@bfexpo). Courses and conferences can be purchased atwww.brasilfutebolexpo.com.br.

In addition to the educational proposal, on the ground floor of the Pró Magno Centro de Eventos, visitors will find the entertainment part of Brasil Futebol Expo. It is there where the public will be able to visit booths from brands, clubs and companies from the football world.

At the ground floor they will also find the indoor soccer, footvolley, Society and street courts where the different tournaments scheduled for the event will be held, such as Ligay, Futsal Down, football for amputees, as well as competitions with university students, authorised schools and social projects with São Paulo children.

There will also be a gamer arena where attendees can play and where championships will be held. The entertainment space will also feature table football and the VAR simulator, a success of the first edition of the event, where visitors will be able to operate the video referee. Several other activations between the associated brands are also planned.

Brasil Futebol Expo 2022 is sponsored by Grupo SBF, GOL, Eleven 360, Henko, Imply, Riplay and Soccer Grass.
