(Philippines).- The spotlight is on the Philippines as the region's gaming industry is expected to overtake its pre-pandemic position by 2026. Player confidence is soaring in the world's most flexible industry. The gaming industry is ahead of the times and trends with state-of-the-art innovations constantly being introduced into a market known for its high growth and return on investment rates. 2019 marked a record-high $4.60 billion in Southeast Asian gross gaming revenues.
Daniel Cecilio, licensing and regulatory group chief of state-run regulator Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp, reasons that land-based casinos contribute $2.5 million to the market and that these projections of skyrocketing revenues are echoed in the gaming hubs like Macau and Singapore.
The Philippines has become an attractive investment option for domestic and foreign companies to open integrated casino resorts, generating tens of thousands of career opportunities in the past decade. The 51 land-based casinos in the country are said to often attract high rollers from all over Southeast Asia. Sandy Amida, the senior director of the country's first integrated casino resort, Newport World Resorts, reported on the need for gaming expansion in their casino resort to "absorb junket groups that are coming".
Closely associated with the glitz and glamour of the gaming industry in Macau, the Southeast Asian gaming industry is opening opportunities with regulatory advancements in countries like Singapore, Vietnam, and of course, the Philippines!
