SiGMA Central Europe 2025 is set to make history as it welcomes two of Europe’s most prominent political leaders — Hon. Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, and Hon. Antonio Tajani, Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Both have officially confirmed their participation in the event, which will take place in Rome from November 3 to 6, 2025.

President Roberta Metsola will deliver the opening keynote address on November 4, officially launching SiGMA’s inaugural Central Europe edition. Her speech will be followed by remarks from Hon. Antonio Tajani and SiGMA Founder Eman Pulis.

This landmark gathering, hosted for the first time in the historically rich city of Rome, will unite influential voices from government, policy, and the public sector. Across four stages, attendees will hear insights from key policymakers, including Hon. Federico Freni, Undersecretary of State at Italy’s Ministry for Economy and Finance.

Roberta Metsola: President of the European Parliament

Elected in January 2022, Roberta Metsola made history as the youngest person ever to serve as President of the European Parliament. In July 2024, she was re-elected for a second term, becoming the first woman and only the second person to hold the position twice.

President Metsola has been a strong advocate for European unity and democracy, particularly in supporting Ukraine following Russia’s invasion. On April 1, 2022, she became the first EU institutional leader to visit Ukraine after the outbreak of the war.

Under her leadership, the European Parliament has pursued reforms to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability. Before her presidency, she served as a Member of the European Parliament since 2013, following her work within Malta’s Permanent Representation to the EU and as legal advisor to the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs. A lawyer specialized in European law and politics, Metsola continues to be an influential voice in shaping the future of Europe.

Antonio Tajani: Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs

Hon. Antonio Tajani brings decades of experience in journalism, politics, and European governance. A professional journalist since 1980, he has worked as a parliamentary correspondent, GR1 Rai anchor, and head of the Rome newsroom at Il Giornale.

As co-founder of Forza Italia, Tajani has held several leadership roles, including Vice President (2018–2023), National Coordinator (2021–2024), and National Secretary (since 2024). He has also served as Vice President of the European People’s Party since 2002.

Tajani was first elected to the European Parliament in 1994 and later appointed European Commissioner for Transport (2008), Vice President of the European Commission, and Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship (2010). In 2017, he became President of the European Parliament, leading several key committees before assuming his current role as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in October 2022.
