The 4th Annual Cyprus Gaming Show – Day One Recap


Day one started off with opening remarks from the Chairperson, Anastasios Belesis, Senior Lotteries Consultant, followed by the opening keynote address by Lazaros Philippou, Vice President at Cyprus Bookmakers Association, which explored the Challenges to the betting industry in Cyprus. Christos Mavrellis, Chairman at Cyprus Gaming and Casino Supervision Commission, took the stage next and delivered his keynote address on Risk based approach to casino regulatory compliance.his week from 5 – 6 October 2021 at the beautiful Crown Plaza Limassol in Cyprus.


Vasilis P. Antoniou, Advocate & Legal Consultant at C. Markou & Co LLC, took centre stage after a refreshing networking tea break with his presentation; “The liability of software providers for illegal betting activity”. George Kampanella, Partner at Bivonas Law LLP followed straight after with his insightful presentation on Anti-bribery and corruption precautions within the gaming industry.



Another insightful panel discussion followed straight afterwards namely, “How important are junkets and marketing agents to bringing in casino customers? What are the benefits and risks?” The panel was moderated by Panis Pieri, Founder at Startups364, and the panellists included, Grant Johnson, Property General Manager City of Dreams Mediterranean and Cyprus Casinos at Melco Cyprus, and Victor Karpenko, CEO at SeoProfy.



With so much action taking place on the stage, it was time for another break and attendees enjoyed a well-deserved networking coffee break. Pantelis Theocharides, Product Manager at Playtech, opened up the stage again with his presentation; “The evolution of sports betting in terms of trading. How trading tools evolved throughout the years and how easy it is nowadays to set up a sportsbook operation”.



Anastasios Belesis, Senior Lotteries Consultant, took to the stage again, this time with his presentation: “Passive lotteries in the e-gaming era:  Tradition through online channels”. Day one of Cyprus Gaming Show wrapped up with a final presentation by Andreas Livadiotis, CEO at XValley Technologies, sharing his knowledge onThe future of payments in iGaming”.
