(Cartagena, SoloAzar Exclusive).- César Báez, General Director of BYA Group, was interviewed by SoloAzar at the firm´s booth in GAT show. There he spoke about his products and also about the current situation of his company and the gaming sector in general, among other topics.
What novelties are you presenting at GAT Expo?
We have new upholstery materials, and we are launching new designs as well. For the expo it was very difficult for us to bring the new line of gamer chairs. We are entering the gamer business, in fact we are entering through Amazon and through distributors in Mexico, and we have presented them in Las Vegas, but we could not bring them on the plane because we brought other chairs from casinos.
Why did you choose to be in GAT?
We chose to be in GAT because the Colombian market is very important to us. People from other places also come to GAT. It is a very well put together expo, very well coordinated, and it is an expo that attracts many buyers not only from Colombia but also from South America in general.
How do you see the exhibition? Have you already seen customers and visitors?
Yes, we have been talking with some important clients here in Colombia, we have some projects and we are doing quotes. I think that now the market is a little retracted everywhere, especially due to the capacity of people who can enter a casino, and we understand that this is closely linked to the issue of buying chairs. As the doors are not 100% open, it is difficult to acquire more chairs. One of the phenomena that we have been having in Mexico is that new groups have entered, which buy casinos and remodel everything, so that has given us a lot of work. And we are advancing day by day.
What business expectations do you have for the near future?
Business expectations are very high, in fact right now we have a trigger in Mexico, and that is that China has very serious productivity problems, and its delivery times are longer than 4 months, and transportation to the US costs more than 20,000 dollars, so we've been having a lot of visits to the plant in Mexico for people who want us to make chairs for them. We have two projects in New York for convention centers. We also received a letter from a company that manufactures gamer chairs, called Secretlab, and in addition to this, people who sell chairs are talking to us because chairs are not arriving on time from China. So they are thinking of replacing them with chairs made in America. We are doing very well, we are selling a lot.
In what other shows will you be present this year?
We're going to be at ICE in April, and later at G2E. Year after year we are renewing what we do. Now we are making new injected polyurethane molds for the seats of the chairs and we are entering with a new finishing line for the metal. We do this finish with electrostatic painting, with a double layer painting, where the color is applied and then a transparent one is applied. This helps us combat corrosion and we are doing this because it is increasingly difficult for us to find a chrome finish for the seating because it does a lot of damage to the environment, so the regulations for chrome plants are increasing. Now we have a painting plant and it's doing well and we perfected the London Base, which is a base that we designed at Bya Group, we presented it in London 2 years ago and it's a round pedestal base that we can use for both tall and short machines. low. We only change the midpoint, we remove the footrest piece and we can send anywhere in the world and we have the two options of chairs.
