(Bulgaria, SoloAzar Exclusive).- Julia Peeva-Sertov, CEO at Amusnet Gaming, Compliance Expert in Gaming, granted an interview to SoloAzar, as part of a series of articles dedicated to inspiring women in the industry. She is a winner of this year's MiGEA Awards in Malta's Best Woman Leader of the Year category and recently became a mother. She talks about her beginnings at the gaming sector, as well as her challenges and achievements.
Where were you born? What did you study?
I was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1982, in the family of a father painter and mother IT specialist. After graduating from a language school in the Bulgarian capital, I started my studies of Information and communication at La Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris. After my bachelor degree, I interrupted my studies for 2 years, and this is when I started my very first job in the igaming industry as a CS, and then being promoted to VIP Account manager with FrenchBack then it was PartyGaming, and all the five brands Party. I was offered a relocation package to Gibraltar and at the time the dream job - Event Manager for partypoker, but declined, and went back to Paris for my Master degree.
How would you define yourself in a few words?
Emotional in nature, kind and loyal, I am a solution oriented person, and trying to pursue new goals and challenges, and to improve my skills and knowledge whenever possible.
How were your beginnings in the gaming sector?
As I said, I started as a customer support agent at PartyGaming back in 2006, shortly promoted to a VIP AM. Then, after some time away being busy with my studies, internships, etc, I went back to igaming, this time as a project manger in a Bulgarian company manufacturing gambling equipment, which was about to start the development of an online gaming product. With the progress of this project, my job changed direction to focus on the technical and non-technical compliance of the products, licensing and corporate matters. My latest occupation started in 2018, when I moved to Malta to join Amusnet Gaming as a CEO.
As a woman with a leading role in the gaming industry, what have been your greatest challenges and achievements?
Every day is a challenge to me, but building the office and team from scratch was perhaps the biggest challenge. Achievements I can name many, but the success of the company I am representing, always keeping the highest level of compliance and image is definitely something I can be proud of. In 2021, I became a mother and won the Best Woman Leader of the year award - how exciting, isn’t it?
What are your main goals and plans for the rest of the year?
Till the rest of the current year, I am mostly dedicated to my two month old daughter.
