´Mexico is seeking a new regulation of the Federal Law of Games and Sweepstakes´- General Director of Games and Raffles of SEGOB

What has been your experience and the reunion with the main players in the gaming industry in a face-to-face event after almost two years?
The pandemic has been a complicated issue, which has affected everyone, also those that we are regulating remotely, in several cases, and I believe that this type of event helps us to connect again, it gives us another type of interaction. What you transmit in a presence is not the same as what you transmit in an online event. Here we were invited by the government of Colombia, and it helps us a lot to have this meeting, these talks, to be able to define some situations at the international level. In this case, Mexico has that interaction with other countries.

What can you tell us about your participation in the World E-Sports Gambling Congress?
For us this issue is very important, therefore, the GAT convention has been very important to know how the issue of e-sports is progressing in different countries, how it is being regulated and what will serve us as a right compared to our country. At the moment Mexico does not have a regulation on the subject of e-sports. However, we are on a path in which Mexico is seeking a new regulation of the Federal Law of Games and Sweepstakes, and in this context, we seek to regulate the issue of e-sports.

Above all, that the issue of crossing bets is directed, which is what our law regulates. For this reason, for us all these talks that were given in the framework of the GAT are very important and interesting. It serves as feedback for the new regulations that are about to come out from the Mexican government. It will help us a lot so that we all have knowledge about how the issue of e-sports is developing in the world. In Mexico there is already an E-Sports Association that is regulated by the National Commission of Mexican Sports. So for us it is a relevant issue and we take a lot of information for our country and be able to make that regulation, which is international and avant-garde.
