(Jacksonville).- Operation Funny Money targets unlicensed gambling venues in Clay and Duval counties, with authorities confiscating slot machines, fish tables, and related equipment.
The Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) has joined forces with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in a major enforcement action against illegal gambling operations in Northeast Florida. The coordinated effort, dubbed Operation Funny Money, resulted in the seizure of hundreds of unlawful gambling devices across multiple locations in Clay and Duval counties.
Multi-agency operation shuts down illegal gambling sites
On December 11, 2025, investigators executed search warrants at three locations suspected of operating illegal gambling activities. These included the Discount Fashion Arcade at 5530 Timaquana Road, Suite 4, in Jacksonville, as well as two sites in Orange Park located at 69 College Drive, Units 6 and 7, and 1212 Blanding Boulevard, Unit 9.
During the operation, FGCC personnel seized a significant number of illegal gambling machines and associated components. Authorities confiscated a total of 230 slot machines and 23 fish tables, along with digital media and other related equipment believed to be used in the illegal operations.
“The Florida Gaming Control Commission welcomes the opportunity to partner with our federal and local partners to stem illegal gambling in our state,” said FGCC Executive Director Alana Zimmer. “We will take the vital, necessary steps to shut down illegal casinos that are popping up across Florida. Our agents are constantly working to permanently close the doors of illegal gambling establishments, and we appreciate the collaboration with our federal partners.”
All seized devices were transported to an FGCC storage facility for evidentiary purposes. Any proceeds recovered from the machines were collected and documented by HSI evidence technicians as part of an ongoing federal investigation.
HSI acted as the lead agency for Operation Funny Money, with support from the IRS, the Florida Gaming Control Commission, and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. The operation underscores continued regulatory and law enforcement efforts to combat illegal gambling and protect the integrity of regulated gaming markets in Florida.
