(Goa).- The government has approved new Public Gaming Rules aimed at regulating casino operations across the state, with the framework expected to be officially notified later this month.

Goa Moves to Strengthen Casino Oversight with New Public Gaming Rules

The government of Goa approved a new set of Public Gaming Rules designed to strengthen the regulatory framework governing casino operations in the Indian state. The move marks a significant step toward increasing oversight and transparency in one of India’s most prominent gaming jurisdictions.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant approved the regulatory file on Tuesday after it was submitted by the state’s Home Department. Following the approval, the proposed rules were forwarded to the Law Department for legal vetting, a standard procedure before formal notification.

According to a senior government official, the new regulations are expected to be officially notified by the end of the month. Once implemented, the rules will introduce a clearer regulatory structure for casinos operating in Goa, which include both offshore floating casinos on the Mandovi River and land-based gaming venues.

Officials indicated that the updated framework aims to address existing regulatory gaps and establish stronger mechanisms for oversight and compliance within the sector. At present, authorities acknowledge that certain operational aspects of the industry lack a fully structured monitoring mechanism.

The forthcoming Public Gaming Rules are expected to clarify operational standards, regulatory procedures, and enforcement measures, providing greater certainty for both casino operators and regulators.

Goa remains one of the few jurisdictions in India where casino gaming is legally permitted, making the new regulatory framework a key development for the country’s evolving gaming landscape.
