IGT PlayDigital Treasure Box Kingdom - Meet the Artist

What was your favourite part of the process?

I would have to say my favourite part was finding new ways to re-work and create art assets that work well for mobile but keeping the same artistic integrity that you get from the land-based games.

What is your favourite element of the game?

I would have to say the treasure box itself. We did some great work recreating that, so it would feel like the one in the land-based game. At the same time, we wanted to avoid over-loading the game size. Without this important element it just would not be a treasure box game.

How did you work with the art, to bring the game to life?

We broke down the key elements of the land-based game to make the digital version recognisable at a glance. So, making sure items like the treasure box, the jackpot meters, reels, and reel frame call back to its source material is important. What’s more, adding elements like the hieroglyph ark at the bottom of the background were this would just be dead space, just ties the game together, creating a fantastic player experience.

What is your favourite drawing in the game?

Again, I would have to say the treasure box itself, as this was reworked for mobile from the 3D assets we got from the land-based team, in order to get this to work for our digital version of the game.

Talk about the process of transforming the art of an existing land-based game while keeping true to the Treasure Box Kingdom that everyone knows and loves.

So, this is not as easy as just cut and pasting images into a photoshop file. We worked with the whole digital team to assess the original game, how it plays, the transitions and the animations. From there, we broke down the key elements that made the original game great and did numerous iterations of the layout until we had a design that not only worked for digital but was true to the land-based game as well. We then looked at what animations were possible and what elements we might need to rework to fit the game and got to work repainting, designing and matching colour pallets, tones, animation timing until were happy. We then went through play tests and reviews where we found better or more exciting ways to improve the game and then work to get this updated in our digital game. All of this brought the game together and that is how we created what you see today.

We have heard from the team behind this phenomenal game. Play the game today to experience everything it has to offer!
