Mobile iGaming market in Mexico targets USD 830 M by the end of 2023

Every year, the mobile iGaming industry in Mexico grows and it is increasingly common for the inhabitants to have a cell phone, to the point that it has become an essential tool to communicate, connect to the Internet and take advantage of different research instruments. and entertainment.

In this last area, mobile iGaming has had a significant boom in the country, with more than positive projections. A study by Statista Market Insights forecasts revenues of USD 830 million and an annual growth rate (CAGR 2023-2027) of 6.43%.

In the handheld gaming market, the number of users is expected to rise to 58.23 million by 2027, with the average revenue per user (ARPU) potentially reaching $17.13 by the end of 2023.

In addition, the report indicates that approximately 75% of the population of Mexico accessed the Internet from their mobile device, at least once a month in 2022, which represents an increase of more than three percentage points compared to the previous year.

This figure registers a constant increase throughout the series analyzed and a forecast from the source shows that, by 2026, more than 86% of Mexicans will access the web through mobile means, either with an application or a browser.

Why do you have these projections?

The numbers come out as a result of the current situation in the sector, in addition to the fact that more and more people are getting closer to new technologies and connectivity to the web. To put it into perspective, we must know that Mexico is the second country in Latin America (only behind Brazil, which has almost twice the population) with the largest number of Internet users, with 92 million individuals with access to the network, therefore that digitization has helped mobile iGaming to grow here.

It is a branch made up of all kinds of games that can be enjoyed from these devices, from those suitable for all audiences, to those exclusive for certain sectors, such as adults, where we find online casinos, whose target are over 18 years.

Online casinos that work in Mexico have become even more popular thanks to their availability on cell phones. Through apps or the browser of the different gadgets, these platforms operate on the Internet and are within the reach of practically any mobile phone. This has helped its gross income (GGR) to be estimated at 500 million pesos, with an annual growth of 10 percent.

And games of this type are only one of those that are within the taste of the public. The puzzles (puzzles), those of the online multiplayer type, those of simulation, racing, shooters and sports are also among the favorites of the public and that have collaborated in the increase of this industry and the projections that it has.

Whether through exclusive applications developed for these gadgets, it is a fact that iGaming has manifested itself in such a way that the large number of users who are interested in this type of entertainment is not surprising and, consequently, the offer increase.

More and more cell phones

It is estimated that there are 119 million of these devices in the country, so it is understandable that there are many people interested in having fun through them. In fact, The Competitive Unite (The CIU) points out in a report that 72% of people who fall into the 'gamers' category enjoy playing through their phones, which is higher than the 29% of those who do it for medium of video game consoles.

Eight percent of those using tablets should also be considered, with seven percent coming from computers, four percent on handheld consoles, and just two percent on music players.

This study also shows that 21.6 million users are under 16 years of age, with 10.1 million between 16 and 20 years of age. It is true that they are a significant percentage, but 33% are adults over 50 years of age, which shows that this industry has found significant development in different generations.

Understanding how the age ranges of mobile gamers in Mexico are distributed and their preference for mobile devices also reinforces everything that is expected in the development of this field, with the 830 million dollars forecast by Statista Market Insights, as well as the fact that more and more people have access to the internet.
