(Minneapolis).- Sportradar, the leading global provider of sports data intelligence, today announced that the latest edition of its Innovation Challenge will take place at the University of Minnesota on Saturday, February 23rd. This marks the first time that the successful competition will take place in the United States. College students and recent graduates will have the opportunity to learn how to best develop an idea, connect with other innovators and create projects that will change sports data markets across gamification, betting, brands & sponsors, journalism and streaming.
The competition, which Sportradar is hosting in conjunction with the Gary S. Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship, is free to enter and will take place on a one-day basis at the Carlson School of Management. Beginning at 9:00am and continuing until 8:30pm, students and young professionals will have the chance to create innovative and dynamic new products and tools using Sportradar data, with the help and support of industry experts from across the company. At the end of the day, participants will present their ideas and compete for $3,000 in prizes.
“Co-hosting this event with Sportradar, a company that is well-known and well-respected in Minneapolis, is something we’re enthusiastic about offering to our students and recent graduates,” said John Stavig, Director of the Gary S. Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship. “This event aligns with the type of experiential education we provide at the Carlson School – where our students work alongside industry experts to solve real problems and create innovative solutions.”
“Providing a platform for some of the brightest young minds to work together and break new ground is an exciting prospect,” said Javier Altamirano, Director of Innovation at Sportradar. “While we’re constantly evolving our capabilities and our offerings on behalf of clients, bringing in a group of new faces to share their unique perspectives is an invaluable exercise that expands our boundaries.”
Most recently, the Innovation Challenge took place in Tallinn where Estonian students participated. Overall, this is the fourth edition of Sportradar’s Innovation Challenge.
“We look forward to bringing our Innovation Challenge to our U.S. headquarters in Minneapolis,” said Dr. Malte Siegle, Head of Sportradar’s University and Research Program. “With sports betting seeing such tremendous growth in the U.S. over the past year and data being more valuable than ever, we anticipate seeing some amazing ideas.”
