The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), the global representative body for the regulated betting industry, has published its 2025 Sports Betting Integrity Report, documenting a total of 300 suspicious betting alerts reported to relevant authorities during the year. The figure represents a 29% increase compared to the 232 alerts recorded in 2024, underscoring both the expansion of IBIA’s monitoring network and the growing sophistication of its analytical tools.

According to the report, alerts were identified across 16 different sports. Football remained the most frequently flagged discipline, with 110 alerts, followed by tennis with 74. Geographically, suspicious activity was detected in all major regions, with Europe accounting for 35% of the total, while North and South America registered notable growth in reported cases.

Operator intelligence supplied by IBIA members proved decisive in integrity enforcement efforts. The association confirmed that such intelligence contributed to 54 matches being established as corrupted, reinforcing the role of collaborative monitoring in protecting regulated betting markets.

Global monitoring and enforcement outcomes

Through its Global Monitoring & Alert Platform (Global MAP), IBIA currently oversees more than 1.5 million sporting events across over 80 sports, representing in excess of US$300 billion in annual betting turnover. The data generated through this platform continued to support both sporting bodies and law-enforcement agencies throughout 2025.

During the year, sanctions linked to IBIA data resulted in 54 matches being confirmed as corrupted, with penalties imposed on 24 players, teams and officials across five sports. These outcomes highlight the growing impact of data-led integrity systems in identifying and addressing betting-related corruption.

This is driven by operator intelligence generated by our membership and their continued commitment to identifying, disrupting and preventing betting-related corruption through collective action and information-sharing with our partners.”

Africa in focus

The 2025 report also includes a dedicated Africa Focus section, reflecting the continent’s rapidly evolving betting landscape. IBIA reported 117 alerts related to African sporting events between 2021 and 2025. Market projections from H2 Gambling Capital estimate that Africa’s total betting gross gambling revenue (GGR) will rise from US$3.5 billion in 2021 to US$19.4 billion by 2030.

As regulated betting markets continue to expand across Africa, IBIA emphasized that early engagement with stakeholders, data-driven monitoring and close cooperation with regulators and sports organizations will be critical to safeguarding both sporting integrity and betting market confidence.
