(Macau).- Close to four weeks after closing due to Typhoon Hato, the Legend Palace Casino has now reopened. The Macau waterfront resort was subject to flooding when the Typhoon hit the city on August 23rd.
GGRAsia reports that it received an email from a public relations agency connected to Macau Legend Development Ltd., the promoter of Legend Palace, that stated the available tables affected by Typhoon Hato, including the operating VIP options, were formally reopened to the public on Wednesday, Sept. 20th.
The resort offers hotel accommodations, with 223 guest rooms, and is located at the Fisherman’s Wharf complex of the Macau peninsula. Hotel services were resumed a little earlier than the casino gaming, on September 18th.
According to GGRAsia, the operator was asked how much they lost in gaming revenues due to the closure. No amount was provided but Macau Legend did state that during the closure, they redirected bookings and visitors that were affected to other hotels and casinos located in Fisherman’s Wharf and at Landmark Macau. The company now looks forward to recouping any losses during the next few months.
Earlier in September, Macau Legend reportedly told the news agency that they were hoping to be open by early October during Golden Week. The Chinese holiday marks National Day and runs from October 1-8 this year.
Macau was heavily affected when Typhoon Hato came through in late August. According to the Macao Government Tourism Office, of the 64 hotels in the city, close to half were without water or power or both after the typhoon struck.
