“SiGMA 2018 is set to carry on in the same vein as last year and continue to break records”

(Malta, SoloAzar Exclusive).- Eman Pulis, SiGMA CEO, spoke exclusively with SoloAzar before the opening of the fifth edition of the show, that will take place between the 28th and 30th of November at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali.
What are the expectations for the fifth edition of SiGMA?
Those familiar with SiGMA have become used to the high levels of quality and attention to detail, so expectations are always high. The level of interest has been intense, so I think it is safe to say that SiGMA 2018 is set to carry on in the same vein as last year and continue to break records.

What are the highlights in SiGMA 2018?
This year SiGMA will welcome a record-breaking 12,500 attendees, host 400 sponsors and exhibitors and provide a platform to 200 speakers. Our international guest list and diversity of conference and workshop topics reflect the summit’s departure from a local show to its evolution into a global event. Because interest is so high we’ve had to add an extra day to our dates, which means our 5th edition will now take place over three days not two, from 28th to 30th November. Construction works are also in progress to increase the floor space at the MFCC, Ta’ Qali, in order to accommodate the numbers.
SiGMA PITCH is back by popular demand. Connecting 100 budding start-ups to 400 investors, the Pitch offers start-ups an opportunity to battle it out in a shark-tank like environment for valuable exposure, funding and mentorship. Additionally, the show will feature a friendly yet fiercely competitive Hackathon.
What is the importance of events like this for the industry?
We provide a high-quality event where delegates in the iGaming sphere can network, debate industry trends, and make lasting connections. We recognise the importance of shining a spotlight on the industry; giving support to startups looking to make the right industry connections, connecting graduates with opportunities in the iGaming sphere, and providing an avenue for industry-changing discussions to take place. As our sold-out expo floor shows - there is a definite demand for events like this.

How do you see the industry in Malta, and worldwide?
The iGaming arena in Malta has never been in better shape and has become a key sector for economic growth and development in the islands. What we’re seeing is a time of change and growth for iGaming - with previously unexplored avenues and markets opening up around the world as governments ease restrictions governing online gambling. The repeal of PASPA in the United States, for example, will further open the sports betting market up to new possibilities and change the gaming landscape.
