Maria Bashkevich: Leading with Vision in the Gaming Industry

(Prague, SoloAzar Exclusive).- In a sector often perceived as male-dominated, Maria Bashkevich, Head of Marketing at Uplatform, is reshaping narratives—not just through bold marketing strategies but by championing inclusion and authentic leadership. With nearly a decade of experience in the gaming and betting world, Maria’s journey is a testament to resilience, innovation, and the transformative power of believing in people.

Maria Bashkevich: Leading with Vision in the Gaming Industry

From Humble Beginnings to Industry Influence

Maria’s career began with what she describes as a less-than-perfect CV. Despite limited direct experience in gaming, she landed a junior marketing role thanks to a hiring manager who recognized her potential and drive. “I had a huge experience in analytics, SEO, and social media, but not much that was considered relevant at the time,” she recalls. “Still, they gave me a shot—and it changed everything.”

Her trajectory since then has been anything but ordinary. Rising through the ranks to head marketing roles, she eventually joined Uplatform, where she was tasked with building not just a brand, but a team and a strategy—entirely from scratch.

The achievement she’s most proud of? “My team and the culture we’ve built. Seeing their eyes light up during brainstorming sessions, knowing I’ve created a safe, free environment where creativity thrives—that’s my biggest win.”

Calling for Real Change, Not Symbolism

Maria is candid when it comes to the challenges that women still face in the gaming industry. While acknowledging progress, she emphasizes that the journey toward equality is far from over.

“Respect still doesn’t come easy—especially if you’re young or ‘too nice’ looking,” she says. “We need more intentional hiring based on skills, not assumptions, and real support for women, especially after maternity leave.”

She also calls out the pervasive culture of brushing off inappropriate behavior. “It’s not just about women—men have faced it too. It’s a culture thing, and we all deserve better.”

Her message is clear: Inclusion isn’t just about numbers; it’s about respect, fair treatment, and creating space for diverse leadership styles—empathy and emotional intelligence included.

Diversity: The Real Competitive Edge

Maria challenges the idea that women must justify their place at the table by conforming to stereotypes of creativity or empathy. “It’s not about what women ‘bring’—it’s about what diversity brings,” she states.

In her view, the true value lies in varied perspectives. “When there’s no diversity, there’s stagnation. Same ideas, same products. Diverse teams are where innovation happens.

She underscores that diversity isn’t just a social good—it’s a business imperative. “It fuels creativity, drives growth, and makes companies more adaptable. It’s not just feel-good talk—it’s a strategy for success.”

A Tradition of Empowerment at Uplatform

At Uplatform, Maria ensures that International Women’s Day is more than symbolic. Each year, the company highlights the stories of women across the organization and industry—professional sportswomen, female players, and inspiring team members.

“It’s a time to reflect on how far we’ve come and what still needs work,” she says. “I’m proud that women at Uplatform hold top and middle management positions and are treated with equal respect.”

On a personal level, the day holds deep meaning for Maria. “It’s a moment to pause and say thank you—to myself and others—for not giving up, even when things were hard. And most importantly, it’s an opportunity to speak up. If one woman reads this and feels less alone, it’s worth everything.”

A Voice That Matters

Maria Bashkevich is more than a marketing leader. She’s a builder of teams, a culture shaper, and an outspoken advocate for equity in an industry still finding its balance. Through her leadership, Uplatform isn’t just growing its brand—it’s redefining what success looks like in gaming and betting.

In her own words: “We all deserve better—and we all have a role in building it.”
