Ronald Díaz: “PGS was an absolute success for Merkur”

Ronald Díaz: “PGS was an absolute success for Merkur”

After another edition of Perú Gaming Show 2024, we asked Ronald Díaz, general manager of Merkur Gaming Perú, about the company's products that aroused the greatest attraction among those present and he noted “the great interest in our linked progressive systems. With Link Wave we were able to present an exciting progressive system that immediately captivated visitors with its various bonuses and features. “We also introduced the already well-known but no less popular Merkur Mystery ll Jackpot system, as well as a new exclusive set of fruit games developed especially for our market.”

In addition, Díaz highlighted the “ZONIC cabinet, which we presented for the first time at a local fair in Lima, attracted a lot of attention for its four different variants of monitors and its elegant design. In addition to this, we launched the MOD EX J-Curved, our first curved monitor cabinet in the Latin American market, with great success, as our local operators were immediately impressed by the new innovation.”

Regarding the feedback received from visitors and attendees at the fair, he highlighted that “The comments were always positive. In my opinion, the PGS was an absolute success for Merkur, because it contributed enormously to further strengthening the trust of our partners, customers and friends in us and in the Merkur brand. In addition to our products, our stand also convinced: every detail was very well thought out and aimed to convey warmth and familiarity. The long and intense debates and the large number of visitors showed that we achieved it.”

How important is the Peruvian market for your company?

For Merkur, the importance of the Peruvian gaming market has increased enormously in recent years. Despite the political situation and the extremely hard-hit economy, the legal stability of the gaming market, the positive development of our regulatory authority (MINCETUR) and fair cooperation between operators stand out in particular. All of this offers the entire industry the opportunity for greater and constant growth, and we are witnesses and key players in this promising development.

How does the recent regulation in Peru impact the online sector? What opportunities and challenges have arisen as a result of this change in your company?

Having clear rules creates the order necessary to attract investments. I am sure that, thanks to the support of our regulatory authority, the new online gambling regulation can only have a positive impact on the entire industry and, through its taxes, also a direct benefit for the country.

To finish, how do you see the growth of the iGaming industry in Latin America?

In this sense, we must highlight the work carried out by the organizers of gaming fairs and the media. Their continued support has been instrumental in the growth of online gaming in recent times, along with the evident change in player behavior following the lockdown events a few years ago.
