(Espelkamp/Milton Keynes).- Mark Schertle has been appointed new COO (operations director) at British arcade chain Praesepe, part of the family-run Gauselmann Group based in Eastern Westphalia.
He reports to Stefan Bruns, who as CEO has been responsible for the Group’s UK business since the beginning of the year. This final appointment completes the new management line-up at the Gauselmann Group subsidiary. Börris Lüngen will continue on Praesepe’s Management Board as CFO (commercial director). “With the UK market the second largest after Germany, British business is of great importance to us. We are therefore putting in place a broad-based management team,” Dieter Kuhlmann, Gauselmann Group Management Board member, Gaming Operations, explains. Mark Schertle had previously gained several years’ international and multi-disciplinary experience at management level. “We are delighted to have won in Mark Schertle another experienced expert for Praesepe,” says Stefan Bruns, CEO Praesepe.
In his new role, Mark Schertle will be in charge of operations, HR, marketing, products and technology, and real estate. The 41-year-old business graduate, who grew up bilingually in Germany with German and English, previously worked in food retailing. After studying business administration, he started his career as a sales manager with LIDL UK in London, followed by various positions within the company. In recent years, Mark Schertle held the position of Sales Director. “I am greatly looking forward to the exciting challenges that await me at Praesepe, and especially to working in an international environment. The British market has enormous potential and, as part of the Gauselmann Group, Praesepe is ideally positioned to leverage this potential,” Mark Schertle says.
Praesepe has been part of the Gauselmann Group since 2012. The takeover is considered the largest acquisition in the history of the Group. Praesepe currently operates 181 entertainment centres and bingo clubs and employs more than 1,800 staff.
