(New York).- The New York State Gaming Commission has reported that gross gaming revenue from the state’s commercial casinos in October was $53.7 million, down 3.9 percent from the $55.9 million collected last month and in October 2023.
Operators retained around $40.3 million, while $13.4 million went to the state in gaming taxes. Revenue collected by slots and electronic table games is taxed at 30 percent, while table game and retail sports wagering revenue is subject to a 10 percent tax rate.
New Yorkers spent more than $500 million on slots and ETGs in October. After payouts, GGR came to around $40.2 million. Both of these figures mark slight increases compared month-over-month and year-over-year. Table games like roulette, blackjack and baccarat contributed around $12.6 million in GGR from a drop of $70.2 million, while poker tables generated $842,668. These figures dropped slightly from September and last October, which saw $15.8 million in table game GGR and $923,066 in poker revenue.
This year, New York began accepting bids for three new downstate commercial casino licenses. However, the state’s Gaming Facility Location Board recently extended the application deadline to June.
The report underscores how these revenues assist in funding public services and infrastructure in areas hosting casino operations.
Conclusion
New York’s licensed casinos are providing significant financial support to local governments, with $176 million in gaming taxes reinforcing community budgets and public services throughout the state.
