(Mexico City).- Miguel Ángel Ochoa, president of the Entertainment and Betting Industry Association (Aieja), reveals that there is high interest on the part of businessmen from Costa Rica, Panama, the United States, Canada, France, Italy, Austria and Denmark to invest in the Gaming industry, betting and physical and online casinos in Mexico.

Nearly 150 foreign businessmen want to invest in gaming and betting in Mexico

I think that easy number could be between 100 and 150 investors from around the world who want to invest in Mexico,” says Forbes México.

Among the investors interested in the Mexican market are some from Costa Rica, Panama, the United States, Canada, France, Italy and South America, adds the businessman.

“I met with Austrian and Danish (investors), because there is a lot of interest in investing in Mexico (in online gaming and betting),” says the casino industry representative.

While there is no legally stable market in Mexico, investors think about it and there is high interest in online games, raffles and bets, he says.

“I spoke with some Hungarians in November 2023 in Miami, Florida, who wanted to invest in Mexico, so I recommended protection and they told me: How are we going to sue the government of Mexico? We have not entered yet and we are suing.”

Foreign businessmen “are unaware of the legal reality of Mexico, amparo is the legal defense that individuals have against abuses of authority, which is the case,” says Miguel Ángel Ochoa.

And that is where it is difficult to convince them, they do not take the risk or why they want to invest in Mexico, he adds.

Investors see the Mexican market as the antechamber of the United States, since 75 percent of the population living in South America, Central America and Mexico does not travel to betting centers because they do not have an American visa, details the business representative.

The climatic conditions in Mexico are benign compared to those in the United States, for example today in Chicago, Boston, New York and Washington there are temperatures of -20 degrees Celsius. While Mexico registers cold, but with climates between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius.

“Players want to play or buy something” and with below-zero weather it is complicated, he details.

Mexico is surrounded by seas, it has vegetation, parks and ruins of Mexico that are very attractive for Europeans or Americans, but also for South Americans or Central Americans, says Miguel Ángel Ochoa, who says that they have gained protection from a decree published last year. past.
