MGCB Cracks Down on Eight Illegal Online Casinos Operating in Michigan

(Detroit).- The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has stepped up enforcement against illegal online casinos operating in the state, issuing cease-and-desist letters to eight platforms found offering online gambling to Michigan residents without a license.
The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) letters were sent to Aussie Play, CryptoGames, FortuneJack, Hugewin Casino, My Stake Casino, Play at Harry’s Casino, RuneChat, and Slots Garden.
“These unauthorized websites may appear sophisticated and legitimate, but they operate outside Michigan law,” said Henry Williams, MGCB Executive Director. “When players gamble on unlicensed platforms, they put their money and personal information at serious risk. The MGCB will not hesitate to act against operators ignoring state gaming laws.”
Protecting Michigan’s Legal Gaming Framework
Michigan’s regulated online gambling and sports betting market is reserved for licensed operators monitored by the MGCB. Any site offering gambling without state authorization violates key laws, including:
Lawful Internet Gaming Act
Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act
Relevant sections of the Michigan Penal Code
Unregulated sites lack the protections required of licensed operators, such as independent game testing, responsible gaming protocols, and dispute resolution or self-exclusion tools. The MGCB has ordered all eight illegal casinos to immediately stop accepting wagers from anyone in Michigan.
Coordinated Enforcement and Consumer Protection
The MGCB continues to work closely with the Michigan Department of Attorney General to investigate and pursue noncompliant operators. Repeat or willful violations may result in additional enforcement actions.
“Every illegal site operating here undermines the integrity of the legal market and puts consumers at risk,” Williams said. “Our message is clear: if you want to do business in Michigan’s gaming industry, you must follow the rules and obtain a license.”
