(Brasilia).- The Game Brasil Survey (PGB) has just launched its newest edition, with the 2025 survey on the behaviour of digital games consumers.

38% of Brazilians consume online gambling so far in 2025

Around 6,282 people were interviewed in 26 states and the Federal District between January and February.

According to the survey, 82.8 per cent of Brazilians say they consume digital games, 8.9 percentage points more than in 2024 and the highest number ever recorded by the study, which is developed by SX Group and Go Gamers in partnership with Blend New Research and ESPM.

Consumers' favourite platform continues to be the smartphone, with 40.8%, a figure down 8 percentage points on the previous edition.

On the other hand, preference for consoles, such as Playstation and Xbox, increased by 3 percentage points (to 24.7 per cent); and the computer, by 5.5 points (to 20.3 per cent).

Online gambling boosts ecosystem

The inclusion of online betting games in the survey is unprecedented and significant: 38.2 per cent of respondents say they play recreational games of this type, indicating a significant presence in the ecosystem.

‘Casinos and games such as ‘Jogo do Tigrinho’ (Little Tiger's Game) were present because they attract an engaged public, willing to spend and motivated by financial, emotional and social factors,’ explains Guilherme Camargo, CEO of SX Group and coordinator of ESPM's postgraduate programme.

The data shows that at least 89 per cent of these players spend money on these games every month:

39% spent between R$50 and R$200
8.6% spent more than R$500
For a minority, the games are a way of relaxing (29%) or seeking the thrill of victory (30%).

The biggest motivation, however, is always to win more money: 43.9% play to do so, and 24.7% see betting on these games as ‘an investment to improve their income’.
