(Costa Rica).- Costa Rica stands out for a gamer ecosystem with profits of more than US$42.9 million and with a gamer population that exceeds 1.4 million players.

The gaming industry in Central America is growing and is positioned as a market with great potential for the growth of an industry that is estimated to generate annual profits of more than $7.2 billion in the region, according to the Newzoo research platform.
“The gaming industry is the largest entertainment industry in the world, double that of cinema, triple that of music and is much larger than the sum of both combined, which reaches between 180 and 190 billion dollars, having a huge anchor in the young generations,” says Diego Foresi, CEO of Infinity, in an interview with Forbes Central America.
Currently there is a new way of connecting and marketing based on video game digital assets, "there are already corporate budgets for gaming, digital marketing and budgets that are allocated to gamer platforms, there is a migration from the traditional way to the platform digital,” says Foresi.
At a competitive level, Infinity markets sponsorships, which have grown in net terms of money, between 30% and 50% in the last 3 years, Foresi emphasized. Brands after the pandemic have sought competition, digital content and physical activation.
Central America already has a competitive place, it has its own league and a large presence by having players from the region. Infinity plays with the flag of Costa Rica, representing Central America, this means that it gives the region a presence in the gaming industry.
According to projections, the number of players worldwide will reach 3.38 billion in 2023, growing +6.3% year-on-year, while the global gaming market will generate revenue of $187.7 billion, with year-on-year growth of + 2.6%.
Newzoo's Global Market Report, published in August of this year, indicates that Latin America will experience the most player growth in 2023 (+6.1%). The main factors driving this growth are: better Internet infrastructure (mobile), accessible and affordable Internet (mobile), the rise of the middle class, the availability of gaming as an affordable recreational activity, (thanks to free- to-play) and the growing population of smartphone users.
